ROCKLIN, Placer County — November 3, 2026. Bill Halldin and Jill Gayaldo held the two highest reported vote totals in Rocklin’s three-candidate City Council contest Tuesday night. Voters were choosing two council members, and the first tally showed Halldin with 9,170 votes (44.14% of candidate selections), Gayaldo with 7,843 (37.75%) and Walter Moore with 3,630 (17.47%).
Two seats, three candidates
Because this was a vote-for-two contest, the percentages describe shares of candidate selections rather than shares of registered voters or actual voter turnout. The order reported at 10:40 p.m. on November 3 is not a final certification. Gold Mountain California News listed the figures in its local Election Night roundup, and Placer County Elections confirmed that the posted election results are preliminary.
What is at stake?
Rocklin City Council decisions affect roads, land-use applications, business development, public safety services and city spending. A candidate ranking second in the first count has not necessarily secured a seat until the canvass is complete; valid outstanding ballots can still be added.
What happens after November 3?
The county said it would continue releasing updates during the canvass, typically on Tuesdays and Fridays, until certification. Readers should follow the official results instead of interpreting election-night totals as completed counts.
